Are Entrepreneurs only Money Driven??

If we take it as a yes, then accordingly, each person working in this world for livelihood can be considered as an entrepreneur because all of them are more or less money-driven only. But it's not true. In this post, I am going to discuss a crucial thing that motivated most of the successful entrepreneurs and fetched them huge recognition, notoriety, and wealth. And if you are just entering in an entrepreneurial career with the sole reason of making money, you are more likely to get failed due to your wrong judgments and insufficient motivation.

We have seen highly successful people leap into entrepreneurship with the only goal of attaining personal wealth. They lose heart when encountered with the inevitable setbacks. Fact: a very high percentage of startups fail. They might run out of money, and they might very well bankrupt their founders in the process. Despite the odds, more people are jumping onto the entrepreneurial bandwagon. The most successful entrepreneurs are not motivated by money. It’s about the experience, the way of life, the chase, the identity, the rush. It is a calling. It's about scratching the itch that just won’t go away. It’s about knowing that this is the work you simply can’t do.

Whether we talk about Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Walt Disney, Milton Hershey, Elon Musk, all of them were motivated by their hunger for being independent and their ambition of making something tremendous and revolutionary in the world that they could call their own. They had a dream of creating an entirely new offering in the market which enabled them to achieve a different identity in society.

Recently, I was watching a show on History TV "The food that built America"  in which I saw how Hershey's Chocolate Company was formed. Milton Hershey was excited by the potential of milk chocolate, which at that time was a luxury product, Hershey was determined to develop a recipe for milk chocolate and market and sell it to the American public. He was so much determined to create Hershey Chocolate Company that he sold his well established Lancaster Caramel Company for one million dollars even before developing the formula to produce fine milk chocolate. Even though he was not a Food researcher, he spent every penny he had to develop a formula of making milk chocolate and through trial and error, he created his own formula for milk chocolate. It took him years to develop the formula to make affordable milk chocolate and cost him huge debts, but he never left hope as he wanted it so badly to offer Americans an affordable chocolate made from fresh milk that he could call his own. The first Hersheys bar was produced in 1900. Now Hershey's company is one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the world.

Also, If you are singularly focused on the end-game of creating a company and making money, you are bound to miss, or outright ignore, precious learning opportunities along the way. Pause and take in these valuable teachable moments that will transform you into a truly great entrepreneur.

Okay, some entrepreneurs do think that making money is what it's all about, but the first reason that most entrepreneurs start businesses is independence -- the ability to create something they can call their own rather than working for someone else. Entrepreneurs want to control their destiny. I would like you all to think upon this before making any plans or taking any decisions about your entrepreneurial career as you may lose your heart in the way of pursuing your business plans due to lack of motivation and interest.
